ART NEWS: NYC Art Fair Happenings

The art fair season has slowed down here on the west coast but this week the frenzy starts in NYC. Despite the freezing temperatures and feet of snow, everyone is headed east for a variety of art showcases in New York City. Because it is such a hectic week and there are so many fairs to choose from, Freeway Editions has chosen a few to focus on, here is our art fair break down for this week.

Printed Matter's LA

After surpassing last year's predicted attendance by more than 10,000 people, this year's Printed Matter's LA is going to be quite the event. Opening the same night as Art Los Angeles Contemporary, the Printed Matter’s LA Art Book Fair will bring together artists’ books, art catalogs, monographs, periodicals, and zines from all over the world presented by various publishers and booksellers. Zevs Liquidated Art

Zevs (born 1977) is an anonymous French street artist, best known for his trademark "liquidation" technique. He was an early and influential graffiti artist and active as a tagger in Paris in the 1990s. He is named after a regional train, Zeus, that almost ran him over one day he was down in the metro. Working with other French artists in the second half of the 1990s like Andre and Invader, Zevs has been among the prominent figures who pioneered the French street art scene.
