In tandem with Fidia Falaschetti's show opening Freeway Editions is highlighting some of his hand-painted screen prints from the Fukushima Tales series and we're talking a bit more about the artist and his background.
Fidia Falaschetti was born in 1977 in Marche, Italy to a family of creatives and teachers. Fidia's fascination with art began in his early childhood, being surrounded by a family of creatives was truly inspiring and by the age of 16, Fidia was hired to produce wall paintings and illustrations for multiple stores and established companies. As he grew up his artistic style shifted and his interests in street art and the hip hop world started to become evident throughout his work. Falaschetti studied "Production Design" at the Academy of Fine Arts, in Italy, where he graduated in 2002. The artist had established a rather successful career while in art school and continued to work as an illustrator, graphic designer, and photographer for several international brands.
However his career path changed in 2007 after a trip to the US, Fidia decided to turn his talents towards contemporary art. Fidia felt compelled to talk about broader themes of humanity rather than specifically working with the design industry. Since this career change Fidia Falaschetti has become a professor of arts and communication where he can both teach and learn from present-day youth.
Currently Fidia is making a transition to living in Los Angeles. When recently asked in an interview about his move he says, “I am super excited to be here. This city is all about “What?! Really?!”. Los Angeles is a weird city but also a super-inspiring place with the best weather ever!"
As aforementioned Falaschetti just had his first solo exhibition in the U.S. and by the look of his new work, he is going to make quite a name for himself here in the land of pop culture. Freeway Editions is looking forward to new projects with Fidia Falaschetti so stay tuned!
