Outsider Art Fair

This past weekend not only was a busy art fair weekend in Los Angeles but also on the East Coast.  In NYC the 23rd edition of the Outsider Art Fair was happening at Center 548 in Chelsea. The Outsider Art Fair is a yearly platform for hundreds of international artists and galleries to come together and celebrate the unorthodox of the art world. The Outsider Art Fair highlights marginalized, unique, artists who are unprecedented in the contemporary art realm. These artists are self taught or otherwise represent a minority of creatives that would rarely be seen at a conventional fair.

Printed Matter's LA

After surpassing last year's predicted attendance by more than 10,000 people, this year's Printed Matter's LA is going to be quite the event. Opening the same night as Art Los Angeles Contemporary, the Printed Matter’s LA Art Book Fair will bring together artists’ books, art catalogs, monographs, periodicals, and zines from all over the world presented by various publishers and booksellers. This event is truly a unique experience to be a part of the merging of literature, art, and publishing.

Art Los Angeles Contemporary

Art Los Angeles Contemporary celebrates its sixth year!

We told you, it’s art fair season! And here in Los Angeles we have a vast variety of art fairs to share with you. This week marks the beginning of Art Los Angeles Contemporary, a West Coast art fair that takes place each year in Santa Monica. The fair highlights LA’s contemporary galleries however international venues from all over are also present, to take in and communicate openly about the contemporary art world.

JonOne and West Side Stories

Freeway Editions is focusing on the work of JonOne today. We added this West Side Stories series to our online art gallery a few months ago and thought we should give these artworks a bit more attention. Therefore this series of hand-painted screen prints are our product of the week! These hand- painted pieces were made in our studio in Los Angeles, in June 2014 while JonOne was in residence for his West Side Stories exhibition.

Mist

It was at the end of the 1980s when Mist discovered graffiti along the railroads of the RER (REGIONAL EXPRESS RAIL) while going to a graphic art school in Paris. Captivated by what he saw, he created his first graffiti piece in 1988. His paintings, with their slightly acid colors and wildstyle shapes, leave a lasting impression on the viewer and have made their mark on contemporary urban culture. Mist currently lives and works in Montpellier, France.
