Urban Exposure

This week FreeWay Editions is sharing new hand-painted screen prints from contemporary urban painter Charlie Anderson.  Anderson is originally from Edinburgh Scotland and after graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 2009 he has developed a thriving career around his distinctive style of collage inspired pop art paintings. He employs imagery from magazines, flyers, advertising and political campaigns to create collage styled paintings that make commentary on our throw away society. By layering images and deconstructing text and forms, Anderson highlights the ephemerality of life and art itself. His new hand painted screen prints use bold black and white lettering as a backdrop to vibrant graffiti style script. The two layers of text contrast yet compliment each other in a medley of past and present.
