Freeway Editions recently spoke with LA street artist Kai about his collaboration with Konfuzed (aka hip hop artist Chris Brown) at this year’s Art Wynwood. When asked how the collaboration came about Kai stated that “Konfuzed and I met through friends Andy and Nobody Photography. We did a mural together with Dirty Wet Paint and it was a success. I guess after that we became friends, and when I was invited to display work at the FAAM Urban Auction I called up Konfuzed to see if he wanted to join. He accepted and then we spent a few weeks planning. When we got there we just had fun and messed around. We were both glad that everyone loved the work and that it sold. It was all just a blessing".
Brown and Kai's project reportedly took place over three days and yielded seven pieces, as well as one “Lost Values” piece on the hood of a Porsche. Chris Brown has been tagging for sometime now under the name Konfuzed but as of late the artist has been producing more work for art shows and teaming up with other artists around the country. With Kai, Brown put together several pieces for Fine Art Auctions Miami’s Urban Art Week , which were later displayed with painters like KAWS, Shepard Fairey and Keith Haring. Half of the proceeds will benefit the Arts and Business Council of Miami. The sale and related events were all part of FAAM's week devoted to urban and street art, which takes place in the Wynwood District at the annual art show.
Thanks Kai for stopping by and sharing!
