ART NEWS: The Broad Museum Preview

This past holiday weekend marked the sneak peek preview of the newly erected Broad Museum in downtown Los Angeles. For ten dollars the public was able to step inside the unfinished structure and experience a special light and sound based exhibition on the museum’s top floor. The exhibit “Sky-lit: Volume, Light and Sound at the Broad” consisted of a light projection coupled with a soundscape piece on the adjacent side of the vast gallery space. The Swedish artist B. J. FEATURED ARTWORK: L'Atlas

This week Freeway Editions is highlighting hand painted screen prints by L'Atlas. The Parallels series exemplifies L'Atlas' ability to turn geometric patterns into optically mesmerizing artworks.    

L'Atlas began writing graffiti in the early 90's. Fascinated by the history of handwriting, he studied calligraphy in several countries and eventually designed his own typography. L’Atlas also worked in film, learning traditional editing techniques and directing several documentaries. Outsider Art Fair

This past weekend not only was a busy art fair weekend in Los Angeles but also on the East Coast.  In NYC the 23rd edition of the Outsider Art Fair was happening at Center 548 in Chelsea. The Outsider Art Fair is a yearly platform for hundreds of international artists and galleries to come together and celebrate the unorthodox of the art world. The Outsider Art Fair highlights marginalized, unique, artists who are unprecedented in the contemporary art realm.
