FEATURED ARTIST: Jan Kaláb

This week Freeway Editions is highlighting the work of Jan Kaláb. You might have recently seen his paintings and sculptures featured in the last edition of Graffiti Art Magazine. Despite working as an artist since the 90's, Kaláb's artwork has recently seen a surge of recognition, and rightfully so. His pieces have taken on an organic, vibrant form like no other. Working in installation, painting, and sculpture, Jan Kaláb's work has a fluidity all its own.

The first week in April was extra busy here at Freeway Editions so pardon the silence on the blog front. FEATURED ARTIST: THTF

Today Freeway Editions is focusing on the whimsy work of THTF, a street art duo from France.

These two young street artists met in 2008 while attending art school in France. After a few collaborative drawings and paintings, they decide to form the artistic duo now known as THTF in November of 2009. They began to create a signature style: simplistic large black & white characters the couple is known for today. ART NEWS: Urban Art Biennale 2015

March 29th will mark the beginning of the third edition of UrbanArt Biennale, an art show hosted every two years at Völklingen Ironworks, a World Cultural Heritage Site located in Saarbrücken, Germany. This art show focuses on the evolution of street art, graffiti, and urban art throughout the world. These genres of art making have come to the forefront of contemporary art culture, slowly but surely making their way into the mainstream of the art world.
