Smash137's New Color

To round out this week Freeway Editions wanted to speak about Smash137’s new solo exhibition entitled “New Color”. The show is on exhibit at Galerie Neuheisel in Germany until January 21st. The title “Neue Fabre” or “New Color” comes from a story of childhood nostalgia, Adrian Falkner AKA Smash137, recalls trying to mix colors and make “a new color” with his brother as a child. And from this childhood curiosity stemmed a graffiti artist career on the streets of Basel, Switzerland. Despite his graffiti roots since 2008 Smash137 has taken his urban...

Tilt aka a “Graffiti Fetishist”

Tilt is an internationally recognized traditional graffiti artist, originating from Toulouse in South France.  A self declared “graffiti fetishist”, he learned his trade in the streets and on trains as a teen.  In the time since he did his first tags on a skateboard ramp back in ’88, his ensuing career has been nourished and influenced by extensive travel.

Tilt incorporates both primitive lettering and more complicated 3D, wildstyle, characters with an emphasis on both strong colors and high impact shapes. Remaining close to the classic hip-hop graffiti ideology, Tilt focuses on the...

Clean lines and precise geometry create a feeling of volume and a skewed perspective. The shapes Canto creates envelope the viewer and transcend space and time. The artist uses influences from graffiti, Op art, and architecture to create immaculate and tidy visual worlds that toe the...

Shortly after his teen years in train yards John Matos transitioned from the streets to galleries and thus a graffiti art career flourished. Since the 1980’s CRASH has been exhibiting his work around the world. His first show, which launched his career, took place in his own neighborhood, at Fashion Moda, Bronx, NY an Outdoor Mural installation...
